My father's tailoring shop
I grew up around tailoring, so machines and fabric were ordinary to me. Embroidery was the part I kept coming back to. I learned on a manual 20U Phoenix, where the result depends entirely on your hands and your attention.
2010
Computerized embroidery
This changed how I thought about the work. A computerized machine only does what the file tells it, so the skill moves out of your hands and into the file. That's when digitizing became the real craft to me, and the reason I started taking computers seriously.
2011
Digitizing for a living
Turning someone's artwork into a file that stitches cleanly, on their fabric, on their machine, is its own skill. You learn it by getting it wrong on real orders where a mistake costs a real person money.
2014
Computer Science
I studied Computer Science, and later took certifications in digital and social media marketing. I never treated the software side and the embroidery side as two paths I had to choose between. Keeping both is the only reason I can build what I build now.
2019
My own machine
Before this I spent close to ten years on contract work, overtime and night shifts on other people's machines, because I couldn't afford one. When I finally bought a two-head and ran the shop properly, I found out how much I still didn't know. Pricing was guesswork. Production was chaos.
2020
Teaching
I started teaching what I'd worked out. Thousands of embroidery businesses have been through the courses and the content since. It also told me the problems weren't mine alone. Everyone was stuck on the same few things, and nobody had built anything to fix them.
2024 → now
The software
The Embroidery Cloud launched in 2024. EmbGig and EMBBA followed. All three exist for the same reason: I hit the problem first, looked for something that solved it, and there was nothing there.
